In A Yellow House-Sepia or B&W with Selective Coloring

This week's photo challenge at In A Yellow House is Sepia or Black and White with Selective Coloring. I will be posting a B&W with selective coloring later on this week for the weekly scavenger hunt, so I decided to submit a Sepia toned photo for this challenge. This is a photo I took at my friend's wedding this weekend. I thought that the classic photo would look nice with a sepia treatment.

July 8, 2010-Day 189

We found a pretty caterpillar by our door. He was very friendly, and surprising fast, which made it a little difficult to take a photo of him. I'll also be adding the first photo to Macro Friday at Blogging From Bolivia.

You Capture-America

This week's photo challenge on You Capture at I Should Be Folding Laundry is America. Here is a photo of the Cyclone at Coney Island's Astroland, which feels very representative of America to me.

Edited to add this photo into Give Me Your Best Shot at Better In Bulk. (Funny because I added the night photo of Coney Island into Sweet Shot Tuesdays.)

July 7, 2010-Day 188

July 7, 2010, originally uploaded by Ms. Baboo.

My neighbor's lilies finally bloomed. All of my neighbors are getting used to me taking photos of their gardens. It's too bad that I seem to have a brown thumb.

It reached 103 in NYC today, so it was way too hot to got outside and take pictures. This is what I came up with when brainstorming inside photos.

Still loving my macro lens.

Long Road to China-B&W Wednesday

March 31, 2010, originally uploaded by Ms. Baboo.

I originally posted this photo back in March and I am submitting it to B&W Wednesday this week at the Long Road to China. I actually took this photo with my powershot, so I was happy that I managed to get some bokeh.

Happy 4th of July!

ShutterLoveTuesdays

Since this week's theme on Shutter Love Tuesdays at Trendy Treehouse is the Fourth of July, I am submitting the first photo. Not only did I take the photo on July 4th, but it celebrates the first war heroes of our country.

Jeromus Remsen, a Revolutionary War veteran and hero of the Battle of Long Island, is buried in a little cemetery in Queens. Most people do not even realize that it is a cemetery because it is so tiny and it is just in the middle of a sidewalk. Several of his cousins, who were also Revolutionary War veterans, as well as his wife and several of his children are also buried there. At this time, only 6 gravestones still exist.

We went to the Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Staten Island Yankees game in Coney Island. It was a beautiful evening. Here is a shot of Astroland at night that I am submitting into Sweet Shot Tuesdays:

There were fireworks after the game. I never photographed fireworks before and I was not prepared with a wide enough lens. I shot these in TV mode. My photos did not come out great, but here are a few that are okay. I definitely must try this again.

In A Yellow House-Travel

Bermuda, originally uploaded by Ms. Baboo.

This week's photo challenge in a Yellow House is Travel. Here is a photo that I took in Bermuda. We traveled there on a cruise, so this photo shows both how we traveled and where we traveled. This photo is a few years old, and was taken in auto.

World Cup Madness, originally uploaded by Ms. Baboo.

Some fans watching the world cup at the South Street Seaport. I believe that game was Ghana vs. Brazil.

Deer, originally uploaded by Ms. Baboo.

We went up to Ulster County on Saturday to see some good friends who have a house in a rural area. We were lucky to see some deer on our drive there.

Edited to add this to You Capture on I Should Be Folding Laundry. This week's photo challenge was green, hands, or a chair, so I am submitting a photo for green. This may not be the best photo I took all week, but it is the greenest.
