I have to say, this has been a really nice, affirming weekend for me, photography wise.

This ruin is right next to a brand new beautiful park that is being built in Brooklyn.

My friends are going to let me take some photos of their daughter when she is born in a couple of weeks. Since I am not great at taking pictures of people, and I have never taken any of a newborn before, I decided to practice a little. Jerry volunteered for me. I think this shot came out nicely. Of course, he can hold very still so I didn't have to worry about my shutter speed.

Pay phones are getting more difficult to find, but there are still a few around. I don't know if I would really want to use this one, though.

It's a beautiful day and the first day of Spring. Flowers are starting to pop up around the neighborhood.

I was a little disappointed because I didn't get any pictures of anything representing St. Patrick's Day, but I still enjoyed the beautiful sunny day. In Chinatown, a lot of women were using umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun. I noticed this woman's bright yellow umbrella all the way across the park.

Took this picture of the Queensboro Bridge yesterday while in midtown Manhattan. My father actually pointed out the shadow in the building and thought it would be an interesting picture. I agree.

You may have noticed, that in addition to all of the photography blogs I am following, I have also added some cooking and health related blogs to my reading list. I have been on a health kick lately. Okay, it's only been a week, but I am still proud of myself. Plus, the best things is, I am rewarding myself for losing weight, and all my rewards are photography related items! I am hoping to lose enough weight by the end of the month to earn those extension tubes that I mentioned in my last post.
Anyway, since I am always rushing in the morning, I don't have time to sit down for a good breakfast before I leave work. I decided to make some quiche cups to bring with me to work. They are really easy to make, and only 40 calories each.

This is the Manhattan Bridge. I really like how I can see the bridge on both sides as well as in front of me. It makes me like I am being towered over. I tend to favor wide angle pictures, and I would love to have an ultrawide lens one day.

Also, one of my pictures has been added to a gallery on Flickr. It is the picture of the plane from February 26, 2010. (I am so easily excited by any sort of photography-related compliment.) You can see the gallery here.

I know that this is a little blurry, but it is literally the only picture I took yesterday, and I was in a moving car.

I call this cat "Stripes." He is a stray cat that lives on my street. Don't feel bad for him. Look at what a chubby little kitty he is. He is obviously not starving.

In honor of Mets tickets finally going on sale.
I don't know why there is a shadow behind Mr. Met. I bounced my flash off of the ceiling to try to avoid a shadow, but it didn't work. I have to practice that more.

Back to the hustle and bustle of NYC. They are interviewing the fire chief after the criminal court building was evacuated due to smoke.

While we were in Asheville, we did visit the Biltmore Estate. It was beautiful. They did not allow any cameras inside the residence, but here are some photos from the estate:

Jet Blue rocks, though, and we managed to fly out. Fortunately, the weather in North & South Carolina was beautiful, in comparison. This is what it looked like in Charlotte when we landed:
