I like this tree because it kind of looks like two trees hugging. I don't like how the picture is blown out on the right side. Oh well.

It was a rainy, gray day. This woman's red rain boots really stood out on the subway.
February 22, 2010-Day 53
I stopped by Jeremy's Ale House last night for a drink with some friends. It is kind of a "Hogs and Hefers" want-to-be kind of place, without the bikers or bartenders dancing on the bar. It is actually pretty quiet on most nights, even though they serve beer by the quart.

Took this with my Powershot on my way home. I love the colors this camera gives me, but there is always so much noise.

Happy President's Day.
Aviation HIgh School in Long Island City has a bunch of military planes in its yard. I actually took this photo through a chain link fence. I used a low aperture, focusing on the plane, to blur the fence.

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Chinese New Year.
Here is a picture of a break dancer at the 14th Street Station. I took a bunch of photos, but they really didn't come out too well. Because it was so dim in the station, I had to use a really low shutter speed to properly expose the photo, but then they were blurred. I finally took a few that were intentionally underexposed so that I could speed up the shutter, figuring that I would try to lighten it up with post processing. It worked, but it is still pretty noisy.

Since it is Saturday night, my husband and I tried a new Italian place in the neighborhood.

I like that I can see the snow falling in the following two.
Here is a picture of some ice cycles. Do you see the water drop forming from the one on the right?
And a picture of the drop falling.

Don't worry. No peacocks were hurt in the making of this picture. The feather was obtained after the peacock shed its feathers for the winter.

I think the focus is a little soft, but not bad considering she was swinging around me in circles.
February 6, 2010-Day 37
I rented the Canon-50-200 2.8 L lens to get some action shots of my niece's swim meet. The L line is the best that Canon makes, and I can see the fantastic quality of the pictures it takes. Of course, it's biggest limitation is me. Lol. I found it a little difficult to keep up with my niece who swims at lightning speed. She won 5 out of 5 events that she was in!
Despite all the action shots I took, I am posting this one of my niece and her best friend. It looked like they were telling secrets while they were waiting for their relay to start. I think it is very sweet.
Saturday was also my niece's birthday, so here is one from her party.

February 4, 2010-Day 35
I realize that I am way behind posting my pictures, but I have kept up with actually taking a photo every day. I was out of town over the weekend, making posting photos impossible.
Anyway, here is one from February 4, 2010. I was pretty busy getting ready for my trip, so we just ordered a pizza for dinner. I was trying to get a picture of the ooey gooey cheese.

Woke up this morning to snow on the ground. Apparently, a cat had already taken an early morning walk.

This is how I felt after work today. It is also how I felt after I spent an hour trying to set up and take this picture without realizing that I didn't bother to check the background for clutter and the light from my neighbor's window. I really need to me more conscious of my surroundings instead of just focusing on the object that I am trying to photograph.

I finally purchased a pro account at Flickr so that I don't have to re-size my pictures anymore when I post them at Flickr. So, if you want to see one of my picture in a larger size, just click on it to bring you to my flickr page.
