May 25, 2010-Day 145
I saw this sign on a street pole yesterday. It may not be the best photograph, but I found it interesting.

Here's another picture of rain drops on a leaf. I need to try this again earlier in the day. It was a too dark when I came home, so, even with raising my iso to 1600, I had to keep the aperture small to let in enough light. Unfortunately, this created too much bokah for my liking.

Here are some that prove that this is in NYC:
When we got home, we found this spider in our yard:

When Macy's at Herald Square was built in 1902, it was the first building to use modern escalators (according to their website.) Some of the old wooden escalators are still being used.

May 19, 2010 -Day 139
I bought some new purple flowers just in time. This week's scavenger hunt requires something purple.

This is in one of the sculptures that can be found in a park called "The Real World" in downtown Manhattan.

Here is another photo of a NYC fire escape. This time, the occupant is using it as his laundromat.
May 12, 2010-Day 132
Another item we had to get for the scavenger hunt was "your work space." So here I am at my desk. As you can see, I am daydreaming about being some place else.
May 11, 2010-Day 131
I'm participating in a photo scavenger hunt. One of the items we had to take this week was "what's in your purse." So, here is a photo of a bunch of stuff in my purse. I actually think it is pretty representative of who I am.

May 9, 2010-Day 129
Now, here are some of my favorites:
Here, all the older monkeys are wrapping themselves around the 2 week old baby monkey (who is orange) while they nap in order to protect him.
And here is the baby clinging onto his mother. (Taken in TV mode)
From the butterfly house.
And some of the lion cubs. (The first one was taken in TV mode.)
While I normally only take photos in full manual, I have to admit that I wound up throwing my camera into TV mode for part of the day. For those that don't know, that means that I set the speed and iso, and the camera sets the aperture. It felt a bit like cheating, but it was pretty helpful when taking photos of the animals when they were running between shaded and sunny areas. I just could not keep up with setting the correct exposure in full manual.
May 8, 2010-Day 128
To make up for the missing day, here is a photo that I took back in November.

May 4, 2010-Day 124
I mentioned a few weeks back that I'm on a bit of a health kick. I decided to make a green smoothie for breakfast. I blended spinach and a banana. It was actually pretty good. The banana really covers the taste of the spinach. Plus, I felt pretty energetic all day.

I passed this art piece that was just sitting outside a building in Williamsburg. I'm glad I stopped to take the photo because it was gone the next day.
