On our first full day in Oahu, we took advantage of our jet lag and got up early to climb Diamond Head.
We climbed despite this sign:
And despite the fact that the trees looked like this:
And despite the fact that we had to climb these stairs:
And then these stairs:
Along the way, there were some pretty views:
And up at the top, there were some great ones:
After we conquered Diamond Head, we decided to wonder over by Waikiki Beach where we saw banyan trees, which are really large and interesting. You could probably live in one.
And, of course, we saw palm trees.
We also saw lots of cool statutes, most of which were adorned with leis.
Gandhi:
A Dragonfly:
A Surfer:
A Surfer with a Seal:
And, of course, Duke, a Hawaiian and olympian who is considered to be the father of international surfing.
There were experienced surfers:

Some people played at the beach.
While other people just relaxed and hung out:
Yes, that's Diamond Head in the background. See how big it is. Remember, we just climbed to the top!
And here is one that I just think is funny. In the evening, we went to dinner on Don Ho Street. (Taken in Auto):
So many incredible shots - more to come, I assume?
ReplyDeleteThanks. We were in Hawaii through August 2nd, so there will be lots more to come. It took me 4 hours just to process this one day, though, so I think it will be awhile before I am caught up.
ReplyDeleteThese are all fabulous shots, looks like you had a wonderful vacation!
